HIGHLIGHTS:
Your driver will pick you up from your Casablanca hotel to begin your personalized tour. We’ll next go sightseeing before driving to Fes, where we’ll spend the night in a riad or hotel.
We’ll begin the day by winding through the alleys and small streets of Morocco’s oldest city. Then, we’ll start our tour at the Royal Palace entrance, then move on to the Jewish Quarter, where the first Mellah in Morocco was established in the 16th century. Also, we’ll make sure you see all of the cultural and historical landmarks, including the famous Al Qaraouine University, which is the region’s oldest. We’ll also go to the Tanneries, the Attarine Museum, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Idriss. After lunch, you’ll tour a variety of cooperatives before taking in a breathtaking panoramic view of Fes’ Medina. Then, return to your Riad for the night.
After breakfast at your Fes Riad, we’ll travel to Merzouga via the Mid-Atlas region, passing through Ifrane, Morocco’s “Switzerland.” Following that, we’ll travel a little further to Azrou’s cedar forests, where you may feed the Berber apes. We’ll then continue on to Midelt for lunch before following the Ziz River to the Ziz Gorge (valley). Our journey will take us through the Ziz Valley, Erfoud, and Rissani, where we will stop to visit the souk (local market). Our day ends when we arrive at Merzouga, where we will spend the night in a local hotel.
We’ll leave after breakfast for the desert by 4×4 car. Then, we’ll spend the day touring the desert region and the Erg Chebbi Dunes, making a circle of the desert dunes where you’ll get a firsthand look at the fascinating contrast between nomadic (Berber) life in Morocco. Thereafter, we’ll go to Khamlia’s village, where we’ll see a performance by the famed Gnawan musicians. Besides, you’ll have the opportunity to walk in a desert Oasis and get lunch in a local restaurant. Before returning to our camp, you’ll spend the afternoon riding camels and watching the sunset behind the dunes. In addition, you’ll be served a classic dinner, served excellent local mint tea, and entertained by traditional Berber music under the stars.
We’ll get up early to watch the sunrise in the Merzouga desert, then return to the settlement on camelback. Thereafter, we’ll travel to Tinghir to see the Todra Gorge, Morocco’s highest and narrowest gorge. We may stop here for a trek within the valley, and then continue to the Dades Gorge after lunch, where we’ll see geological features known as “monkey toes/feet.” We’ll spend the night in a local hotel or riad in the Dades Gorge.
After breakfast, we’ll drive to Ouarzazate, passing past a thousand Kasbahs along the way (fortresses). We’ll stop for a stretch and lunch at a local eatery in Kalaat Mgouna (the heart of The Valley of Roses). We’ll then continue on our private 8 days trip from Casablanca, stopping first at the famed Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou before continuing on to Marrakesh through the Tizi-n-Tichka pass, where we’ll spend the night in a local riad/hotel.
We’ll go on a guided tour of Marrakesh today. The iconic Jamma el Fna square, the Koutoubia mosque, the souks, palaces, and museums are among the city’s principal attractions and monuments. We’ll also visit Gueliz, The Menara Gardens, and Majorelle, all of which are great to see.
Today’s flight schedule is dependent on your flying schedule. If you have time, you can spend the afternoon exploring Marrakesh’s less touristy regions and eating lunch at a local restaurant before being driven to your hotel/airport, where our service will conclude.
